January 2nd

Casen's & Collins' bilirubin levels both dropped nicely since yesterday. Dr. Chris decreased Collins' lights to a single bank, but Casen's will stay double-banked for now. We will recheck bili levels again tomorrow morning & hopefully be able to discontinue both of their lights then if the levels keep dropping. I'm looking forward to being able to hold my babies more!
Great news... at his weight check this morning, Casen actually gained a few ounces! He is now back to 3 pounds 11 ounces. They're decreasing his IV fluids & if he continues to do well, we'll be able to stop the fluids altogether. He's still getting all of his feedings through his NG tube. Once he gets stronger we'll be able to attempt breast/bottle feeds. Mommy hopes by tomorrow, but we'll have to wait & see what his weight does.
Collins is breastfeeding really well, but it takes a lot of energy to breastfeed & she's continuing to lose weight slowly. She weighed 4 pounds 2 ounces this morning. For now we're planning to limit her breastfeeds to 20 minutes, then supplement with easier-to-take bottle feeds for 10 minutes afterwards. Hopefully we'll see her weight come up tomorrow!
